It is better to suffer wrong than to do it, and happier to be sometimes cheated than not to trust.
A man who doesn't trust himself can never really trust anyone else.
Trust no one unless you have eaten much salt with him.
To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved.
One must be fond of people and trust them if one is not to make a mess of life.
Who would not rather trust and be deceived?
You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough.
It is better to suffer wrong than to do it, and happier to be sometimes cheated than not to trust.
